Lockwood named Player of Year as six honored by Region 8

Katie Lockwood has done whatever the Eastern Florida State College women's team has needed this season, helping the team advance to next week's NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament hosted by Eastern Florida State College.

On Friday, Lockwood was named the Region 8 Player of the Year for her efforts.

The sophomore from Huddersfield, England led Region 8 with 16 goals and assisted on 11 others to lead the region in points with 43.

The midfielder has had a goal or an assist in 10 of the team's 13 games this season.

Joining Lockwood on the all-Region 8 first team is Nathali Da Silva who leads the team in assists with 12 and has 15 goals this season for the Titans as well as freshman Ebony Wiseman who has eight goals and 11 assists.

Wiseman, from King's Lynn, England, was also named the Region 8 Freshman of the Year.

Sophomore defender Juna Suppan and freshmen Chloe Whittaker and Destiny Deluca were all named to the second team.

The Titans are the No. 4 seed and will open the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13 against Iowa Western Community College. Eastern Florida State College is hosting the national tournament at Titan Soccer Complex and tickets are $10 at the gate for adults. Children five and under and college faculty and students with ID's are free.

The NJCAA is livestreaming all tournament matches through a pay-per-view plan at njcaatv.com and the NJCAA offers four pricing options.

The Eastern Florida State College 5:30 p.m. matches on Mon., Nov. 13 and Wed., Nov. 15 will be broadcast live on WEFS-TV and available via the station's @easternflorida YouTube Channel at no charge.
