Women's soccer team blanks Johnson County Community College

The Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team shut out Johnson County Community College 2-0 Sunday evening at Titan Soccer Complex on the Melbourne campus.

The fifth-ranked Titans improved to 2-0 on the season with the victory and another freshman came up big in the victory.

Ebony Wiseman opened the scoring 10 minutes into the contest when Katie Lockwood made a nice cross and Wiseman blasted it into the top of the net.

Then with 12 minutes remaining in the first half it was Wiseman who made the cross that found Nathali Da Silva who beat the defender to the ball and finished for her first goal of the season.

The defense did the rest as the Titans posted its second straight clean sheet after the team did not have a shutout in the preseason.

"We weren't very clinical in front of the goal and that last pass was off tonight so we have a lot to work on," Eastern Florida State College women's soccer coach Jeff Carr said. "We got the result but not the best effort we have had."

The Titans will open the Region 8 schedule on Friday, traveling to ASA Miami for a 2 p.m. match. It is the first of four straight road games for the Titans who will be back at Titan Soccer Complex Sept. 25.
