High Profile Destinations Next for 4 Titan Women Soccer Players

Four Eastern Florida women's soccer players are moving on to more high-profile teams in the wake of the Titans record-setting season.

Freshman striker and second-leading scorer Julia Hernandez has verbally accepted a full scholarship to NCAA Division I and 2013 national champion UCLA; freshman goalkeeper Steff Barreras has been called up to a camp with the full Mexican national team in January; and sophomore midfielders and twins Abbie and Briana Camargo have accepted full scholarships to NCAA Division I Stetson University in DeLand, Florida

The Camargos are scheduled to begin classes at Stetson in January and Hernandez in March or April at UCLA in Los Angeles, California.

Hernandez, from Madrid, Spain, was both an NJCAA Division I and National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) first-team All-America. She scored 26 goals and recorded 13 assists for 65 points as Eastern Florida spent most of the season ranked No. 1 nationally, reached the final of the NJCAA Division I Championship tournament and finished 17-1.

Barreras, from Phoenix, Arizona, played 1,277 minutes in 18 games for the Titans, allowing 12 goals, making 59 saves and recording four shutouts. She recorded two shutouts for Mexico in the CONCACAF U-20 Women's Championship in Honduras. Mexico finished third and earned an automatic berth in the 2016 FIFA Women's U-20 World Cup in Papua, New Guinea.

Briana Camargo recorded 24 assists, breaking the record of 14 set by Abbie in 2014. Briana Camargo also scored 10 goals.

Briana Camargo was a 2015 NJCAA second-team All-America. Abbie Camargo was a 2014 NSCAA first-team selection. She finished the 2015 season with eight goals and 21 assists.
