Women's golf team in third at the NJCAA Southeast District Championship

The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team is in third place after the first round of the NJCAA Southeast District Championships in Palm Coast.

The Titans shot a 323 in the first round at the Conservatory Golf Club and is behind leader Seminole State College and Daytona State College.

Sophomore Gracie Doke is tied for fourth place overall after shooting a 77 while teammates Jenna Barnett is in 10th and Brittany Odic is in 11th place overall.

Jaida Furlow is tied for 12th place overall and Emma Parker is in 17th.

"Good fight from Gracie all day. We got off to a good start and unfortunately it got away from us on the back nine," Eastern Florida State College assistant women's golf coach Pontus Torgner said. "The course played really tough today with high winds. We are looking forward to tomorrow and some new opportunities."

The final round of the tournament will begin on Tuesday morning with the top teams advancing to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament which will be held at Duran Golf Club May 20-24.
