Women's golf team in first place at Deercroft Spring Break Invite

The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team is in first place after the first round of the Deercroft Spring Break Invite at Deercroft Golf Club in Wagram, North Carolina.

The Titans shot a 311 in the first round and lead Georgia Military by 21 strokes. Methodist University is in third place.

Gracie Doke shot a 4-over 76 and is tied for first place overall with Sandhills Community College's Trinity Ahing.

Jasmine Yang is tied for third place overall with a five over 77 while both Sarah Knitter and Morela Boyd are tied for sixth, shooting a 7-over 79. Teammate Kira Shellman shot an 81.

"Good balance by the team on an awkward course for us," Eastern Florida State College women's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "Plenty of elevation changes and grass is still dormant coming out of winter. Tomorrow will be a good test on how we stick with our game plan and play the course."

The team will be going for its first victory of the spring Tuesday morning.
