Women's golf team places third at golf tournament in South Carolina

The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team finished third at the Monument Golf Oldfield Tuesday in Okatie, South Carolina.

The Titans shot a 316 in the final round and shot a 927 overall in the tournament held at the Oldfield Golf Club. SCAD-Savannah shot a 304 in the final round and won the event.

Freshman Sarah Knitter placed seventh overall with a 75 in the final round and finished with a 225. Teammate Savannah Hawthorne placed ninth overall with a 230 for the three-round tournament.

Gracie Doke was tied for 12th overall, shooting a 79 in the final round and a 233 for the tournament. Jasmine Yang placed 22nd overall and had an eagle on the par 5 11th hole. Yang's eagle was one of just six in the tournament and the Titans are the only team to have more than one as Knitter had an eagle on hole No. 12 on Monday.

Kira Shellman finished 57th in the tournament.

Merrimack College's Prakruthi Sastry won the individual title, finishing at even par for the tournament after shooting a 69 in the final round.

The women's golf team will get a bit of a break before playing in the St. Andrews University Deercroft Spring Break Invitational March 27-28 in Wagram, North Carolina.
