Women's golf team places tied for 11th in Flagler Fall Slam

The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team finished in a tie for 11th place overall at the Flagler Fall Slam in St. Augustine Tuesday.

The Titans shot a 315 in the final round to move up into a tie with Eckerd College and Christian Brothers University.

"Good, solid play by Sarah (Knitter). It was another tough day on the greens," Eastern Florida State College women's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "It was a good, competitive tournament with a very good golf course only helps us identify where we need to work."

Knitter finished the tournament tied for 11th overall after shooting a 74 in the final round to finish with a 151. Gabrielle Fernandez shot a 79 to finish the tournament tied for 54th with teammate Savannah Hawthorne and Morela Boyd each shooting an 81. Jasmine Yang had an 89.

Flagler College won the event, shooting a 291 in the final round with Nova Southeastern placing second and Daytona State College was third. Flagler's Stella Jelinek shot a 70 in the final round to win the event, shooting a 2-under 142.

The Titans will play Seminole State College on Friday at Mayfair Country Club in Sanford to wrap up the fall season.
