Women's golf team tied for 12th at Flagler Fall Slam

The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team is tied for 12th overall after the first round of the Flagler Fall Slam at Marsh Creek Country Club in St. Augustine Monday.

The Titans shot a 321 in the first round and are tied with Montevallo.

"Tough day, we struggled on and around the greens and Marsh Creek Country Club is the wrong place to have short-game issues," Eastern Florida State College women's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "If we do a better job on the greens tomorrow we can lower the total in a hurry."

Freshman Sarah Knitter is tied for 18th overall after shooting a 5-over 77 in the first round while teammate Morela Boyd is at 8-over. Gabrielle Fernandez shot an 81, Savannah Hawthorne finished with an 83 and Jasmine Yang had an 89.

Nova Southeastern and Flagler College are tied for the lead after shooting 303 in the first round. The final round will be held Tuesday.
