Women's golf team places second in the Nancy Nichols Fall Invite

The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team finished second in the Nancy Nichols Fall Invite at the Sun 'N Lake Golf Club in Sebring.

The Titans shot a 307 in the final round to finish the tournament at 928. Southeastern University won the event, shooting a 295 in the final round.

Freshman Sarah Knitter shot a 75 in the final round to finish fourth overall at 12-over 228. Teammate Savannah Hawthorne also shot a 75 in the final round to finish sixth overall at 14-over. 

Gabrielle Fernandez finished tied for ninth overall after shooting a 79 in the final round. Morela Boyd shot a 78 and finished tied for 12th while Jasmine Yang had a 79 to place tied for 14th overall.

"We got off to a better start and it got away from us in the middle of the round," Eastern Florida State College women's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "Solid play by Sarah and Savannah. Everyone hung in there all day. Need to work on our basics and prepare for Flagler event."

Eastern Florida State College will wrap up the fall season with the Flagler Fall Slam on Oct. 24-25.
