Women's golf team in seventh after two rounds at national tournament

The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team is in seventh place after two rounds at the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament at Mayfair Country Club in Sanford.

The Titans battled windy conditions to post a 326 and is in seventh place, two strokes behind Dodge City Community College halfway through the tournament.

The 326 was the fifth-best score of the day.

Gabrielle Fernandez rallied from a slow start to shoot 2-over 38 on the back nine to post an 80. She is tied for 29th overall.

Teammate Morela Boyd posted birdies on holes No. 2 and 3 but came up short on the back nine, finishing with an 82. Boyd leads the Titans after two rounds at 16-over par, tied for 18th overall.

Savannah Hawthorne, Kira Shellman and Delia Timpy all finished with an 82 on Tuesday. The team will tee off at 8:22 a.m. on hole No. 10.

Shellman is playing the par 5 holes at 1-over for the tournament which is tied for sixth-best in the tournament. As a team the Titans are playing par 5 holes at an average score of 5.58 which is fourth-best in the tournament.

Seminole State College continues to lead Daytona State College in the tournament after the Raiders shot a 300 on Tuesday.

Eastern Florida State College is playing in its first national tournament.
