Women's golf team has good day in South Carolina event

The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team is in third place after two rounds at the Monument Intercollegiate at Oldfield Golf Club in Okatie, South Carolina.

The Titans shot rounds of 316 and the 306 to finish at 622 behind leader SCAD-Savannah who is at 604.

Eastern Florida State College's Kira Shellman shot a 1-over 73 in the second round and is tied for sixth overall with a 155. Teammate Morela Boyd is also tied for sixth with rounds of 78 and 77.

Savannah Hawthorne is tied for 12th at 158, Gabrielle Fernandez is tied for 15th overall at 159 and Delia Timpy is tied for 20th.

"Good job by the team today. They put in some good practice before this event and little by little it is beginning to show," Eastern Florida State College women's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "Good to see Kira and Savannah have better rounds and good balance from Morela. Gabby and Delia are both contributing. We are looking for more of the same tomorrow."

The final round of the tournament will begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
