Women's golf team fares well in Valdosta event

The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team shot rounds of 329 and 327 in the first two rounds of the Kinderlou Forest Spring Invitational Monday in Valdosta, Georgia.

Freshman Morela Boyd shot two rounds of 79 and is in 17th overall at 7-over while teammate Gabrielle Fernandez had rounds of 81 and 84 to be in 21st overall. Savannah Hawthorne is tied for 26th and both Delia Timpy and Kira Shellman are tied for 29th overall.

"Steady play by Morela. We had some good stretches and we had some poor stretches. We just need to play better as a team and cut down on the unforced errors," Eastern Florida State College women's golf coach Jamie Howell said.

The final round of the tournament will be on Tuesday morning at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
