Women's golf team sits in fourth place at Shark Invitational

The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team is in fourth place after two rounds at the Nova Southeastern Shark Invitational at the Fazio Course at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens.

The Titans are the only junior college in the field and shot rounds of 309 in the morning and then after a two-hour delay shot a 318 in the afternoon session.

Sophomore Kacey Walker is sitting in seventh place after two rounds, shooting a 74 in the first round and then struggled early but rebounded to shoot 1-under on the back nine to finish with a 74 and is 6-over after two rounds.

Teammate and freshman Elise Boccabella is tied for 16th overall after shooting a pair of 79s. Delia Timpy is in 23rd place and Trinity Falzone is in 24th place overall. Freshman Sloan Lanier is tied for 25th heading into the final round.

"We had a good morning round and hung in there in the afternoon as the final nine holes were in and out of the rain," Eastern Florida State College women's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "Solid day from Walker and good solid play by Boccabella and nice comeback by Delia."

Host Nova Southeastern is leading the tournament after rounds of 295 and 300 and are eight strokes ahead of the University of Tampa.

The final round of the tournament is scheduled for Tuesday morning with the Titans teeing off beginning at 8:21 a.m.
