Women's golf team opens fall season in Daytona Beach

The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team tees off in Daytona Beach Friday through Sunday in the Lady Falcon Invitational at LPGA International Golf Club.

The women's golf team returns three players from last year's team that played some of its best golf at the end of the season.

"We will have our hands full. It's about the golf course and us, we have shot our lowest score of last year during workout so that is encouraging," Eastern Florida State College women's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "Let's go out and find our way, shoot as low as we can and see where that puts us this weekend."

The first tournament of the season will be a good test for the Titans as the defending national champion Seminole State College will also be in the tournament. Daytona State, College who finished runner-up in the national tournament will be hosting the event. Seminole State also won last year's Lady Falcon Invitational.

Sophomore Kacey Walker will be one of the leaders of the Titans after a successful freshman season.

"Last year was a good year, we went through a lot as a team and I think we worked hard over the summer and look forward to going out and competing," Walker said during Media Day.

Eastern Florida State College will tee off Friday morning in the first round of the event.
