Women's golf team places fifth at Panther Invitational

The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team finished fifth in the Florida Tech Panther Invitational at Duran Golf Club in Viera.

Freshman Kacey Walker led the Titans, shooting a 2-over 74 in the final round and finished 10th overall at 8-over for the tournament. Walker had birdies on 15 and 16 in the round to get to 1-under but a bogey on her final hole put her at 2-over.

Teammate Delia Timpy had to take a drop on 16 spoiling a solid round as the freshman shot a 79 and finished in 24th in the tournament. Trinity Falzone finished tied for 25th after shooting an 81 for the second straight day. Two bad holes spoiled a good round by Gianna Piscitelli who shot her best round of the tournament, an 82 on Tuesday.

The Titans shot 316 in the final round, the best round of the tournament for Eastern Florida State College.

Host Florida Tech won the event, shooting 6-over as a team in the final round and finished with an 880 for the tournament. Seminole State College's Alex Giles shot a 73 in the final round to finish the tournament at 1-under and top Florida Tech's Lucy Eaton by one stroke for the individual title.

The Titans will now prepare for the Region 8 State Tournament which will be held at Rockledge Country Club on April 27-28.
