Women's golf team leads Wallace State event

The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team is leading the Wallace State Spring Invitational after the first round on Monday at Cullman Golf Course in Alabama.

The Titans shot a 333 in the first round and lead host Wallace State who shot a 376.

Freshman Kacey Walker leads the tournament after shooting a 4-over 76 while teammate Gianna Piscitelli is second after shooting a 9-over 81. Delia Timpy is in third place at 11-over 83 while Trinity Falzone is in 11th place after shooting a 93.

"It was 34 degrees when we teed off this morning and the golf course is playing very difficult not only in weather conditions but also turf as northern Alabama is just coming out of winter," Eastern Florida State College women's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "It is a good experience for the team competing on the road and we are looking to improve scoring tomorrow."

The final round is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
