Women's golf team to play in Seminole State Spring Invitational

The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team heads to Lake Mary this weekend looking to build on a strong start to the spring season.

The Titans, who are No. 6 in the NJCAA Golfstat rankings, are coming off a second-place finish at the Coastal Georgia Winter Invitational where freshman Kacey Walker won the individual medalist.

"It's a very good event played on a good stern test of golf at Timicuan Country Club in Lake Mary," Eastern Florida State College women's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "Our lady's squad has been practicing diligently in preparation for each event on our schedule and we look to continue the improvement in our tournament play."

The host Seminole State College is the No. 1 NJCAA team in the country and will also feature some good NCAA Division I and Division II teams.

"Good hard work over the month of January as well as a recognition of what we needed to do to improve," Howell said. "We have been focused on being comfortable in our skin and play to our strengths rather than worry about what might take place with other teams."

The first round will be Monday with the final round scheduled for Wednesday.
