Women's golf team places second in Coastal Georgia Winter Invitational

The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team finished second in the Coastal Georgia Winter Invitational at St. Simon Island, Ga. on Tuesday.

The Titans finished with a final round 314, once again shooting the best score of the season as they finished three strokes behind champion Southeastern University who shot a 309 in the final round.

Freshman Kacey Walker picked up her first individual title, shooting a tournament-best even par 72 in the final round, topping Faulkner University's Hannah Sager by one stroke.

Trinity Falzone finished tied for ninth, shooting an 80 to finish at 159. Teammate Gianna Piscitelli shot a 79 to finish in a tie for 10th place with a 160 and Delia Timpy placed 13th in the season opener.

"Awesome job by the team. Three strokes better than round one and in the thick of it both days," Eastern Florida State College women's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "A good comeback by Kacey to capture medalist honors and good balance by the team as a whole."

The women's golf team will compete in the Seminole State Spring Invitational beginning March 4 in Lake Mary.
