Women's golf team opens fall season in Daytona

The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team opens the fall season this weekend in Daytona Beach.

The Titans will have three events this fall beginning Friday with the Lady Falcon Invitational at LPGA International Golf Club.

"It will be a strong field to start the season because some of the best teams in the nation will be there, so we will get to see where we stand early and what we have to work on," Eastern Florida State College women's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "Our long term goal is to be competitive at this level so I know we are growing and we will continue to grow but I am excited to see where we are."

The team has sophomores Gabriella Collura and Gianna Piscitelli returning from last year's team and has added three very good players in local players Trinity Falzone and Delia Timpy as well as Kasey Walker who joins the team from Canada.

"New group, this is my own five. We may be small but I like what we have," Howell said during media day. "Gianna and Gabby are returning and I lean on them but with a small group I will lean on them all."

The team will also compete in the Webber International Fall Invitational and the Flagler College Fall Slam in October.
