Women's golf team has solid first round in Daytona

The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team battled a strong field and a strong wind in the first round of the Embry Riddle Eagle Invitational at LPGA International in Daytona Beach.

Freshman Dayna Owens led the Titans, shooting an 8-over par 81 and is tied for ninth place in the tournament. Teammates Katelyn McCallum, Regan Taylor and Danica Swaggerty each shot 90 as the team finished with a 351.

Queen's University of Charlotte is leading the tournament, shooting a 320 In the first round.

The Titans will tee off in the final round on Tuesday.
