Women's basketball team back on the court today in national tournament

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team opens the NJCAA Division I National Tournament this afternoon at Ford Wyoming Center in Casper, Wyoming.

The Titans, who are the No. 10 seed in the tournament, will play No. 23 North Dakota State College of Science at 6:45 p.m. EDT on ESPN+ and they have been waiting for this opportunity for almost a week.

Eastern Florida State College is coming off a loss to Northwest Florida State College, who is the No. 3 seed in the tournament. The last time the Titans lost this season, they went on a 26-game win streak. This time they only need to win five games to become national champions.

It begins tonight against North Dakota SCS is the North Central District champion and comes into the tournament on a seven-game win streak.

"They are a really solid team, do a good job of sharing the ball and play team ball," Eastern Florida State College women's basketball coach MJ Baker said. "They are very tough on defense, very disciplined so it will be a good game."

The team has spent the last couple of days practicing and getting accustomed to Wyoming and Baker believes they are ready for the challenge ahead.

"We love it out here, it is a whole new environment," Baker said. "Obviously, you want to be here and we are here to compete. The elevation is different for us, but the team is adjusting to it, they are locked in and focused and I think we are enjoying the different climate and culture."

The first-round game will be shown live on ESPN+ and will be at 6:45 p.m. EDT. Fans can also keep up with how the team is doing all week on efsctitans.com or on the EFSC Titans social media pages.
