Women's basketball team is back in the national tournament

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team is back in the national tournament for the third straight season.

The women's basketball team, who has made it to the Elite Eight and then the Final Four the past two seasons, are the No. 10 seed for the NJCAA Division I National Tournament beginning March 26 in Casper, Wyoming.

"We are so thankful and so blessed for another opportunity to play in the national tournament. The first time we got into the national tournament three years ago was incredible, but our staff had a goal of not making this just a one- or two-time thing, making it a consistent pursuit of being elite and being among the top teams in the nation every year," Eastern Florida State College women's basketball coach MJ Baker said. "Being at the national tournament is where you play the best teams and we want that challenge, we want to build a legacy here and make something lasting. To be going for the third straight season is special, I am thankful to the selection committee for choosing us because unfortunately we put it in their hands when we didn't take care of business in the Region VIII Tournament, but we are excited to go to Casper, Wyoming and compete."

The Titans come into the national tournament 27-4 on the season and made it to the semifinals of the FCSAA Women's Basketball Championship. Eastern Florida State College won the conference title for the third straight season, going 21-0 in conference play.

Eastern Florida State College will open the national tournament against No. 23 seed North Dakota SCS. North Dakota SCS are the North Central District champion and come into the tournament 27-6 on the season. The opening game will be Tuesday at 2:45 p.m. EDT.
