Women's basketball team picks up conference road win

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team remained unbeaten in conference play, defeating Indian River State College in a Citrus Conference road game Saturday.

The Titans, who are No. 8 in the NJCAA Division I poll, defeated the Pioneers 76-59 ago improve to 17-0 in conference play and 22-3 on the season.

Indian River State College came out with an aggressive defense and the game was tight throughout the first quarter and the Pioneers hit two 3-pointers to end the first quarter as the Titans held a 21-19 lead heading to the second quarter. The Pioneers would tie the game before Andrea Chiquemba ended the run with a basket.

Eastern Florida State College finished the second quarter on a 8-0 run to head to halftime leading 35-27.

The Titans would extend the lead in both the third and fourth quarters to record their 21st straight win.

Sophomore Amelia Hassett finished with 29 points and nine rebounds in the game. Teammate E'Zaria Adams had 11 points while Chiquemba and Kristiana Kulackovska each had eight points.

Eastern Florida State College will be back at Titan Field House Wednesday night for a conference game against Daytona State College at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday's game will be shown locally on WEFS-TV, channel 9 or 455 on Spectrum, 68 on DirecTV, 30 on Dish and 68 on AT&T Uverse. It will also be shown live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
