Women's basketball team tops Florida Southwestern in conference game

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team reached a couple of milestones during Thursday night's victory at Titan Field House.

 The No. 15 ranked Titans defeated Florida Southwestern State College 74-38 to improve to 11-0 in the Citrus Conference. It was the 15th straight win for the Titans who are now 16-3 overall.

The victory was the 150th for head coach MJ Baker as a Titan and sophomore Amelia Hassett grabbed nine rebounds and now has 501 in her two seasons.

Hassett helped the Titans jump out to an early lead, scoring eight of the first 10 points as Eastern Florida quickly took a 10-3 lead. The Titans would lead FSW 14-6 after the first quarter.

Florida Southwestern went on a 6-0 run to cut the Titans lead to 16-12 and the Titans would extend the lead a bit once again, heading into halftime with a 29-23 lead.

The Titans came out in the third quarter and scored the next 23 points and held Florida Southwestern to six points in the third quarter. Eastern Florida State College would score 27 points in the third quarter as the Titans would lead 56-29 after three quarters.

Mackenzie Auton would hit a couple of 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as the Titans would cruise to their 35th straight conference win.

Hassett finished with 18 points while E'Zaria Adams finished with 12 points and Lynn Rieth had 11.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to Indian River State College Saturday for a conference game beginning at 2 p.m.
