Women's basketball team picks up conference win on the road

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team won their 13th straight game on Saturday, defeating Daytona State College on the road.

The No. 18 ranked Titans used a big second quarter to beat the Falcons 83-57 in a Citrus Conference game. It was the 33rd straight conference win for the Titans who improved to 9-0 in the conference and 14-3 overall.

Sophomore Amelia Hassett had a big first half and finished with her 15th double-double of the season, finishing with 23 points and 11 rebounds in about two and a half quarters.

Daytona State came out with some pressure in the first quarter and led for much of the first quarter, but Jaidyn Koerdt hit a 3-pointer to start a 7-2 run to finish the quarter and give the Titans a 20-18 lead. The Titans would lead the rest of the way as Eastern Florida State College outscored Daytona State College 23-4 in the second quarter.

Martina Galvez Narro had a big second half, scoring nine points to make sure the Titans would remain unbeaten in the conference.

Sophomore Kristiana Kulackovska had 13 points and six rebounds for the Titans who is in first place in the conference standings.

Eastern Florida State College, who is in first place in the conference standings, will travel to Miami Dade College on Tuesday evening for a conference game before returning to Titan Field House Thursday against Florida Southwestern. Thursday's game will begin at 5:30 p.m. and admission is free.
