Women's basketball team cruises past Santa Fe

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team won its 11th straight game Saturday, defeating Santa Fe in a Citrus Conference game.

The No. 21 ranked Titans used big second and third quarters to cruise to a 75-52 win. Eastern Florida State College is now 7-0 in the conference and 12-3 overall.

Eastern Florida State College got things going late in the first quarter, turning an 11-9 lead into a 24-12 lead midway through the second quarter. E'Zaria Adams made some big plays to extend the Titans lead to 15 and they would head to halftime with a 33-19 lead.

The lead reached 20 on a couple of free throws by Ashleigh Battle and a basket by Esra Sen late in the third quarter gave the Titans a 30-point lead. It would reach 32 on two free throws by Martina Galvez Narro.

The Titans once again had 11 players score in the game led by Amelia Hassett who had 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Adams finished with a season-high 13 points and led the team with eight rebounds. The freshman also had three steals in the game. Battle and Jaidyn Koerdt each had eight points.

Eastern Florida State College has now won 31 straight conference games. The Titans will host Indian River State College Wednesday night in a battle of the top two teams in the conference. Wednesday night's game will begin at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and admission to games at Titan Field House is free.
