Women's basketball team opens conference season with win

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team opened the Citrus Conference season with a win on the road.

The 22nd ranked Titans defeated Daytona State College 90-66 Saturday afternoon to win their fourth straight game.

And it was the duo of Kristiana Kulackovska and Lynn Reith that paced the Titans on Saturday, both recording season-best performances.

Kulackovska, a redshirt sophomore from Saldus, Latvia, was on her game from the beginning. Kulackovska had four of her six first-quarter points in the Titans 11-0 run as the Titans jumped out to a 16-3 lead and would finish the first quarter leading 21-9.

Kulackovska would have 11 points at halftime as the Titans took a 34-23 lead into the break.

Reith came out in the third quarter and hit four 3-pointers in the third quarter alone on her way to a season-high eight 3-pointers. The performance was one away from the school record of nine, held by Mariah Batz.

Kulackovska finished with a double-double, scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds which was also a season high and her first double-double of the season. Reith had a team-high 24 points to go with seven rebounds.

Teammate Amelia Hassett recorded her sixth double-double of the season, scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds with 10 of the 12 points coming in the second half. Hassett and Ashleigh Battle each finished with six assists.

Eastern Florida State College (5-3, 1-0) will be home on Monday night against Santa Fe College in a Citrus Conference game. Monday's contest will tip off at 5:30 p.m. at Titan Field House. Admission is free and you can watch the game live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
