Women's basketball team plays Indian River State College in Region VIII Semifinals

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team will get a rematch from last season in the Region VIII Tournament semifinals Friday afternoon in Niceville.

The No. 1 seed Titans, who are 29-1 and in the semifinal for second straight season will play No. 4 seed Indian River State College who edged the Titans in the semifinals last season, 61-59.

Eastern Florida State College advanced to the semifinals with an 82-34 victory over Santa Fe in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. Elli Garnett scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and had six assists in the win against Santa Fe. Teammates Shadaria Smith and Amelia Hassett each had 12 points.

Indian River State College comes into the matchup 26-4 on the season and was led Wednesday by former Titan Rapuluchi Ngorka who had 26 points and 18 rebounds while teammate Ta'Viyanna Habib had 16 points and former Titan Jasmine Peak chipped in with 14 points against St. Petersburg in a 77-69 win.

The Titans have not been to the Region VIII Tournament championship game since 2018 and have never won a state title.
