Women's basketball team has six players named to all-conference team

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team had six players named to the all-Central Conference team on Friday.

Sophomore forward L'or Eyeba Mputu was named the Central Conference Player of the Year as the Republic of Congo native averaged 16.7 points and 5.9 rebounds in 12 conference games this season.

MJ Baker was named the Central Conference Coach of the Year for the second straight year as the Titans went 12-0 in conference play. Mputu was named to the second team last season as a freshman.

Sophomore Shadaria Smith was named to the first team, scoring 10.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists in conference games this season. It is the second straight year Smith has been named to the first team.

Sophomore Leilani Guion was named to the first team, scoring 12.9 points with 4.4 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game. Guion was named to the second team as a freshman.

Freshman Isimenme Ozzy-Momodu was named to the first team, scoring 12.4 points and 9.9 rebounds off the bench for the Titans. The forward recorded seven double-doubles in her 10 conference games this season.

Freshmen Amelia Hassett and Elli Garnett were both named to the all-conference second team. Hassett averaged 8.8 points and 7.3 rebounds while Garnett had 6.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.1 assists.

Eastern Florida State College will open the FCSAA/NJCAA Region VIII Tournament on Wednesday, March 8 against Santa Fe College at 7 p.m. at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville.
