Women's basketball team tops St. Petersburg in overtime

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team stayed unbeaten in conference play, edging St. Petersburg College in overtime Wednesday evening.

The second-ranked Titans improved to 27-1 overall and 11-0 in the Central Conference with the 75-73 overtime win.

Leilani Guion sent the game to overtime, hitting both free throws with 10.9 seconds on the clock and St. Petersburg's shot missed.

In overtime Elli Garnett hit a huge 3-pointer as the shot clock was going off and once again it was Guion with a big basket late and Garnett hit one of two free throws to give the Titans the win.

The Titans led by one after the first quarter, then two at halftime and two after three quarters in a close contest throughout.

Guion led the Titans with a season-high 27 points to go with eight rebounds and six assists in the game. Teammate L'or Eyeba Mputu finished with her fifth double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Shadaria Smith hit four 3-pointers for 12 points for the Titans.

Eastern Florida State College will wrap up the regular season at home against Florida State College at Jacksonville. The Central Conference game will begin at 2 p.m. at Titan Field House and it will be Sophomore Day.
