Women's basketball team wins, claims conference title

The Eastern Florida State women's basketball team won their 10th straight game on Saturday afternoon at Titan Field House.

The Titans locked up the Central Conference regular season title with the 77-49 victory over Daytona State College. The second-ranked women's basketball team improved to 10-0 in the conference and 26-1 overall.

Eastern Florida State College trailed for much of the first quarter as Daytona State College hit some big shots to head to the second quarter leading 14-12.

The Titans went on a 9-0 run in the second quarter to take a 25-19 lead which they continued to expand as they headed to halftime leading by 15 points.

From there, Eastern Florida State College continued to add to the lead in the third quarter as Shadaria Smith scored eight points in the quarter and finished with 13 in the game.

L'or Eyeba Mputu finished the game strong with eight points and finished with a game-high 18 points. Isimenme Ozzy-Momodu finished with her 11th double-double of the season, scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Leilani Guion had 11 points while Elli Garnett had eight points and eight rebounds.

The women's basketball team has now won 10 in a row, 20 straight at home and 23 conference games in a row. It is the second straight conference title for the Titans.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to St. Petersburg College Wednesday night and then host the Florida State College at Jacksonville on Saturday in the final regular season game.
