Women's basketball team defeats Daytona State College

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team cruised to a Central Conference victory Saturday afternoon at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus.

The No. 6-ranked Titans improved to 18-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference with a 90-55 victory over Daytona State College in the home conference opener.

Sophomore L'or Eyeba Mputu had one of her best games as a Titan Saturday, scoring a career-high 32 points in limited time in the win.

And she got things started early, scoring the Titans first six points and finished with 11 in the quarter as Eastern Florida State College took a 25-16 advantage after one quarter.

The Titans extended the lead to 53-29 at halftime as Eastern Florida State College won every quarter of the contest.

Sophomore Shadaria Smith finished with 16 points and seven assists while teammate Amelia Hassett added 14 in the win.

11 Titans scored in the victory, which was the 16th straight at Titan Filed House and the Titans have won 15 conference games in a row now.

Eastern Florida State College will be on the road for the next two games, traveling to St. Petersburg College Wednesday and then playing at Florida State College at Jacksonville Saturday.
