Women's basketball team cruises past Miami Dade

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team improved to 11-0 on the season, cruising to a victory over Miami Dade College Wednesday evening at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus.

The fourth-ranked Titans defeated the Sharks 107-31.

Eastern Florida State College scored the first 11 points in the game and was up 32-7 after one quarter. The lead reached 40 points in the third quarter on a Funmi Amode basket and continued to pull away, winning every quarter.

Shadaria Smith scored 16 of her team-high 18 points in the first quarter as she shot 7-for-10 from the floor. Teammates Hanna Mebius-Svensson and Leilani Guion each scored 15 in the win. Isimenme Ozzy Momodu had 12 points and eight rebounds and L'or Eyeba Mputu had 10 points and seven rebounds as all 12 players scored in the contest.

Eastern Florida State College, who has scored over 100 points twice this season, won by 76 points which is the third-largest victory by a Titans team in the past decade. The Titans have now won 14 games in a row at Titan Field House but will hit the road this weekend, playing a couple of games in Niceville. Eastern Florida State College will play Georgia Highlands Friday at 2 p.m. and then Monroe College Saturday at noon.
