Women's basketball players Mputu, Smith invited to All-Star weekend in Atlanta

A pair of Eastern Florida State College women's basketball players have been invited to play in the NJCAA Women's Basketball Coaches Association Top 40 All-Star and Hall of Fame event in Atlanta, Georgia July 20-23.

Forward L'or Eyeba Mputu and guard Shadaria Smith will represent Eastern Florida State College. Both players were key contributors to the Titans last season as the program made history, going to the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament and making it to the quarterfinals.

Mputu finished her freshman season averaging 9.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game off the bench for the Titans. The forward from the Congo, Africa had a strong national tournament averaging nine points and eight rebounds per game.

Smith, who was named to the FCSAA Region VIII All-State first team, finished her first season averaging 11.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. The guard from Orlando played in 33 games for the Titans and averaged eight points in the national tournament.

The event will feature the top returning NJCAA players from all over the country to play in games during the All-Star weekend. The players will be split into different teams and will have a practice day on Thursday, July 21 with games on both Friday and Saturday.
