Ngorka named to national championship all-tournament team

Eastern Florida State College women's basketball player Rapuluchi Ngorka was named to the NJCAA Division I National Championship All-Tournament team Monday night after the national championship game.

Ngorka and the Titans reached the Elite Eight of the national tournament in their first appearance.

"This means a lot to me, for the team," Ngorka said after accepting her award after the championship game at Lubbock Christian University in Lubbock, Texas. "We didn't win the title but I am so proud of what we accomplished this year."

The freshman from Madrid, Spain set a national tournament single-game record with 26 rebounds against Jones College in the Elite Eight, but the Titans fell in overtime 64-62.

It was also a school record and her career-best for rebounds in a game. For the tournament, the forward averaged 11 points and 11 rebounds per game in the three games of the tournament.

"I really didn't even realize I had 26 rebounds, I am just happy I was able to help the team," Ngorka said. "This has been a good season for us. I can't wait for next year."

Ngorka was also named to the FCSAA/Region 8 All-Tournament team and was the Central Conference Player of the Year this season.
