Women's basketball team faces Indian River State College in state tournament semifinal

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team will play Indian River State College in the FCSAA State Tournament semifinals on Friday night at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville, Florida.

The Titans come into the tournament as the No. 2 seed and are coming off a win against Daytona State College in the quarterfinals. Eastern Florida State College is 26-3 overall and has won 14 straight games. It is the first time the Titans have been in the semifinals in the past four seasons and the third time in the past 30 years.

Indian River State College is the No. 6 seed and knocked off No. 3 Gulf Coast State College on Thursday afternoon 72-65 as four players scored in double figures and Aniyah Jenkins scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the game.

The Titans won the only meeting this season, 72-56 in the Women's Basketball Shootout to begin the regular season and are 5-1 in the series over the past five seasons.

On Thursday night Rapuluchi Ngorka, Kaitlyn Sanders and Shadaria Smith were named to the Region VIII All-State team.

The winner will play the winner of No. 1 Northwest Florida State College vs. No. 5 Chipola College for the state championship on Saturday night.
