Rapuluchi Ngorka named Central Conference Player of Year

Women's basketball player Rapuluchi Ngorka is having a record-setting season for Eastern Florida State College.

And on Friday the freshman from Madrid, Spain was named the Central Conference Player of the Year.

"It is an honor to receive the conference player of the year, I am just so happy," Ngorka said.

Ngorka earned the honor, averaging a double-double this season with 13.9 points and 13.3 rebounds per game. Her 358 rebounds and the rebounds per game both lead Region VIII. The 13.3 rebounds per game is fourth in the nation and she is third in the nation in total offensive rebounds with 161.

The forward has recorded 15 double-doubles this season which is second-best in program history, just three behind Trudy Walker.

Ngorka helped the Titans to perhaps their best season in program history, winning a program-best 25 regular season wins and went a perfect 12-0 in the Central Conference. The Titans are also on a 13-game winning streak which is the longest ever and are ranked 16th in the NJCAA Division I poll.

"When I came here, I thought we could have a good season, we have good coaches, a great team that works hard every day," Ngorka said. "But we still have a lot to prove, a lot of things we still want to accomplish."

Ngorka and the Titans will play in the FCSAA State Tournament Thursday afternoon against Daytona State College at 1 p.m. at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville.

"We have a versatile team and like coach says, the beauty of this team is its strength in numbers," Ngorka said. "We feel confident heading into the tournament. We have a lot to prove and a lot to show."
