Women's basketball team sets program mark for regular season wins

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team set the program record for regular-season wins Saturday afternoon on the road.

The Titans improved to 24-3 overall and 11-0 in the Central Conference with the 70-58 win over Daytona State College on the road. The win was the 12th straight for the No. 16 team in the country who have already locked up the Central Conference title.

On Saturday it was sophomore Kaitlyn Sanders who led the way, hitting seven 3-pointers in the game to finish with 27 points which is a career high for the guard. It marks the sixth straight game that Sanders has scored at least 10 points.

Teammate Rapuluchi Ngorka recorded her 15th double-double of the season with 10 points and 15 rebounds in the game.

The Titans led by just three points at halftime but went on a 10-0 run late in the third quarter to take a six-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.

From there the Titans continued to stretch the lead, winning by 12 points. The Titans have won every conference game by at least 10 points this season and will host St. Petersburg College Tuesday night in the final regular-season game beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus. The game will be broadcast live on WEFS-TV.
