Women's basketball team hosts Daytona State Wednesday live on WEFS-TV

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team will put their seven-game winning streak on the line Wednesday night against Daytona State College at Titan Field House.

The game, which will be broadcast live on WEFS-TV, will tip off at 5:30 p.m. The Titans come into the contest No. 18 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll at 19-3 overall and 6-0 in the Central Conference.

Daytona State College has won two in a row and are 2-1 in the conference, the only conference loss coming to the Titans earlier in the month. The Falcons enter Wednesday's matchup 10-4 overall and are led by a balanced scoring attack as four players are averaging close to 12 points per game.

Guard Shayla Bouie leads the attack, averaging 12.9 points per game while bothKierra Wheeler and Kimeira Burks are also averaging 12 points per game. Teammate Tanyia Gordon is averaging 11.9 points this season.

In the first meeting, the Titans jumped out to a big lead on the road and defeated Daytona State 81-62 on Jan. 15. Overall in the series, the Titans have won four of the last five meetings.

Eastern Florida State College has a balanced scoring attack that averages 76.8 points per game which is the second highest in the state.

Freshman forward Rapuluchi Ngorka leads Region VIII in rebounding, grabbing 12.4 per game and is also averaging 14.7 points per game. Freshman guard Shadaria Smith is averaging 12.7 points per game this season and is coming off a 27-point performance against Santa Fe.

Wednesday night's game will be shown live on WEFS-TV which is channel 9 or 455 on Spectrum, 68 on DirecTV, 30 on Dish and 68 on AT&T Uverse. Admission is free to games at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus.
