Women's basketball team back home Monday night

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team will put its five-game win streak on the line Monday night at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus.

The 22nd-ranked Titans, who are off to a program-best 17-3, are 4-0 in the Central Conference and will host the Florida State College at Jacksonville in a conference game Monday at 5:30 p.m.

The Titans defeated the Blue Wave in the first meeting this season and have won the seven straight in the series. Eastern Florida State College comes into the matchup averaging 75.8 points per game which is third in Region VIII. The Titans are only giving up 59.6 points per game this season which is fifth in Region VIII.

Freshman guard Shadaria Smith has scored at least 15 points in each of the past three games and has had at least 10 points in 12 games this season for the Titans. Teammate Rapuluchi Ngorka has scored at least 11 points in each of the past seven games this season and is leading the state in rebounding, grabbing 12.1 per game which is also tied for ninth in the nation.

L'or Eyeba Mputu is leading Region VIII in field goal percentage, shooting 63.4 percent from the floor this season which is eighth in the nation. Mputu is averaging 9.6 points per game off the bench for the Titans.

Florida State College at Jacksonville's Jayde Johnson is shooting 44.8 percent from 3-point range this season which is second in Region VIII.
