Women's basketball team beats Daytona State on the road

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team jumped out to a fast start and picked up a road conference win Saturday afternoon.

The 25th-ranked Titans started the game on an 18-0 run and went on to defeat Daytona State College 81-62 on the road.

The Titans built the lead to as many as 24 and led by 20 at halftime as guards Kaitlyn Sanders and Shadaria Smith combined for 24 of the team's 45 points in the first half.

Daytona State College closed the gap in the third quarter, but with the lead down to nine Tatiana Beaumont hit her third 3-pointer of the game to put the lead back to double digits. It would remain there the rest of the game.

Five players scored in double digits for the Titans, who improved to 15-3 overall and 2-0 in the Central Conference.

Sanders finished with 18 points, seven rebounds and six steals while Smith had 17 points, six rebounds and four assists. Ngorka scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for her 11th double-double of the season.

Tatiana Beaumont scored 11 points and had six assists while Leilani Guion scored 10 points.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to the Florida State College at Jacksonville on Monday for a Central Conference game at 5:30 p.m. The Titans will be back at Titan Field House Wednesday night, hosting St. Petersburg College at 5:30 p.m.
