Women's basketball team hits road for conference game Saturday

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team will be back on the court Saturday for a Central Conference game on the road.

The 25th-ranked Titans will travel to Daytona State College for a 2 p.m. game with the Falcons. Eastern Florida State College is 14-3 overall which is the best start under head coach MJ Baker.

Daytona State College has not played a game since Dec. 16 but are 8-3 overall and have won their past three games. 

The Titans are leading the series 3-2 over the past five meetings and the series is tied 4-4 since 2015.

The Falcons have four players averaging at least 11 points per game as Shayla Bouie leads the team, averaging 13.3 points per game while Kimeira Burks and Kierra Wheeler are each averaging 12 points per game. Teammate Tanyia Gordon is averaging 11.9 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.

Eastern Florida State College is 1-0 in the Central Conference after a win over Santa Fe Wednesday as Rapuluchi Ngorka recorded her 10th double-double of the season, scoring 18 points and grabbing 17 rebounds. Ngorka leads Region 8 in rebounding, averaging 13.1 rebounds per game to go with her 15.6 points per game.

Teammates Shadaria Smith, L'or Eyeba Mputu and Kaitlyn Sanders are also averaging more than 10 points per game for the Titans.
