Women's basketball team picks up win on the road

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team overcame a slow start to defeat Hillsborough Community College 78-76 Friday night on the road.

The 21st-ranked Titans trailed by eight after the first quarter and seven at half, but EFSC came back to improve to 5-0 on the season which is one of the best starts in program history.

Shadaria Smith led the attack with 19 points and four steals while Hanna Mebius-Svensson had 17 points and eight rebounds in the win. Both were career highs for the freshmen. Sophomore Kaitlyn Sanders had 12 points and also had four steals while L'or Eyeba Mputu finished with 10 points and five rebounds in the win.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to Palm Beach State College Monday for a 5:30 p.m. start.
