Women's basketball team beats Hillsborough for 20th win of season

The No. 22 ranked Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team picked up their 20th win of the season, defeating Hillsborough Community College 88-74 Saturday at Titan Field House.

The Titans have won four in a row and are now 20-5 overall and 4-1 in the Suncoast Conference with the victory.

Hillsborough came out shooting, hitting nine 3-pointers in the first half to hold a 44-43 lead. But the third quarter belonged to the Titans as they outscored Hillsborough 28-8 in the quarter as Anja Knoflach hit two of her four 3-pointers in the quarter.

Skye Williams finished with 24 points and seven rebounds and made sure the game stayed close, scoring half of those points in the second quarter.

Stephanie Torres finished with 16 points while teammate Milan Schimmel had 15 points and nine rebounds. Knoflach would finish with 14 points and six rebounds.

The Titans will travel to Florida Southwestern on Wednesday night for a battle of the top two teams in the conference. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m. in Fort Myers. The women's basketball team will return to Titan Field House Feb. 15, hosting St. Petersburg College at 2 p.m.
