Women's basketball team tops Daytona State College

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team defeated Daytona State College in a non-conference matchup on the road Monday.

The Titans, who improve to 17-5 with the win, took an early lead and was up 10 at the end of the first quarter and 11 at halftime.

Daytona State College came out with a 6-0 run in the third quarter and had it down to eight points until two big 3-pointers by Anja Knoflach pushed the lead to 14 points.

Once again Daytona State College would fight back and cut the lead to single digits with under four minutes remaining. This time it was Jacquelyn Levay who stepped up and hit two 3-pointers to push the lead back to 15 with 2:10 remaining and went on for the win. 

Milan Schimmel finished with 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists while Levay had 17 points and Stephanie Torres has 13.

Kianni Westbrook scored a game-high 22 points for the Falcons who fell to 14-8 on the season.

Eastern Florida State College will host Broward College Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. in a non-conference game at Titan Field House. Admission is free.
