Women's basketball team falls to FSW in conference showdown

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team lost its first Suncoast Conference game of the season Saturday, falling short to No. 14 Florida Southwestern State College at Titan Field House.

The 24th-ranked Titans fell 93-86 in the matchup of unbeaten teams in the conference.

Anja Knoflach cut the Bucs lead to one, 87-86 with 1:40 remaining in the game but that is as close as the Titans would get as Florida Southwestern scored the final six points of the contest.

The Titans had led by 10 points in the third quarter but three straight 3-pointers by Florida Southwestern gave them the lead. The Bucs would go on to finish the third quarter with an eight-point lead.

But the Titans weren't finished as Milan Schimmel and Skye Williams opened the fourth with baskets to get the Titans right back into the game. Jacquelyn Levay hit her fourth 3-pointer later in the fourth quarter to keep it close.

Eastern Florida State College fell to 16-5 overall and 2-1 in the conference. They will travel to Daytona State College Monday for a 4 p.m. game before hosting Broward College on Saturday afternoon at Titan Field House.
