Women's basketball team rolls to 5-0 record

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team improved to 5-0 with an 82-53 victory over Florida State College at Jacksonville Tuesday night at Titan Field House.

The 5-0 record is the best start for the women's basketball program in the past 18 years and it was sophomore Skye Williams who made sure the Titans picked up that win.

After jumping out to an early double-digit lead, the Blue Wave got to within six points in the second quarter. But the Titans would have a big third quarter and lead by 20 heading to the fourth quarter.

Williams was a big part of that surge, scoring 17 of her team-high 22 points in the second half. It was the third straight game the sophomore scored at least 17 points and has 10 or more in every game this year.

Williams was one of four players that scored in double figures as Milan Schimmel finished with 16 points, Natalia Beaumont had 14 and Mercy Gonzalez finished with 11 in the win.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to Ocala this weekend to play Miami-Dade and Broward College. The Titans will be back at Titan Field House Nov. 30 against Elite Sports at 2 p.m.
