Women's basketball team starts season No. 7 in state poll

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team is No. 7 in the NJCAA Region 8 Women's Basketball preseason coaches poll released on Wednesday.

The Titans are coming off a 14-win season and have eight players returning including guard Skye Williams who was named to the all-state team as a freshman.

Defending national champion Gulf Coast State is No. 1 with Northwest Florida State College and Florida Southwestern rounding out the top three.

The basketball teams will host Titan Madness at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus. The women's basketball team will open the regular season Nov. 1 at the Indian River Tip-Off Classic with the home opener scheduled for Nov. 12 against the Florida State College at Jacksonville.
