Women's basketball team opens state tournament Wednesday against Santa Fe

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team will open the FCSAA State Tournament Wednesday night in Ocala.

The Titans will open the tournament against Mid-Florida Conference champion Santa Fe at 8 p.m. in the first round.

"We really need to get back to what we do well. We haven't played well down the stretch, so we are focused on taking care of the ball and making better decisions," Eastern Florida State College women's basketball coach MJ Baker said. "We are focused on Santa Fe who are tough, they have been playing very well at the end of the season and we know they will be a tough matchup for us."

The two teams have split the first two meetings with each winning at home and Santa Fe leads the series 4-3 in the past four seasons. Jacquelyn Levay and Sierra Votaw have led the way, averaging 15 points per game in the two meetings.

The Titans will open the state tournament on Wednesday night in Ocala against the Mid-Florida Conference champion Santa Fe. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. and tickets can be purchased at the gate for $10 for adults and $6 for students and all of the games will be shown live online.
