Women's basketball team falls short against Florida Southwestern

The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team fell short in its comeback bid against No. 13 Florida Southwestern, falling 92-86 in a Suncoast Conference game Wednesday night at Titan Field House.

Freshman Jacquelyn Levay led the charge in the fourth quarter as the Titans cut the four with three minutes left and then got to within one with under a minute left when Skye Williams scored and was fouled, hitting the free throw to make it 86-85. But Florida Southwestern hit the four of the final six free throws to ice the game and improve to 6-0 in the conference.

Levay finished with a career-high 27 points while Williams had 17, Angeni Worley finished with 12 on four 3-pointers and Sierra Votaw had 11. Levay has now scored 11 or more in eight of the last nine games.

The Titans will host IMG Academy at 2 p.m. on Saturday before returning to conference action Feb. 16 at St. Petersburg College.
